The latest phase in Florida’s COVID-19 guidelines, which kicked in on Mon. May 18, allows restaurants to open at 50% capacity for dine-in customers. Some places are doing so, some are staying at 25%, and some have stuck to take-out only. We began tracking the changing landscape with our Top 10 Takeout guides (consult our earlier list here). 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House. Now open for socially distanced indoor and outdoor dining with a sweet view of Straub Park and the waterfront. $16.95 three-course specials are available from 3-5:30 p.m. daily. Call to make reservations or order takeout at 727-896-2400.
Alésia. Curbside pickup and delivery service from Noon-7 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. If decline in COVID-19 cases continues, they’ll offer outdoor seating and food service via their new Alésia SideWindow for ordering and takeout, along with curbside pickup and delivery. Annex 400 Beach. Open for indoor and outdoor seating as well as to-go. For takeout, call 727-896-4400 or walk up and place your order. Open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Baba. Locals (well, my husband and I) rejoiced at the reopening in the Grand Central District of this wonderful new(ish) Mediterranean restaurant/bakery from the owners of Bodega, Debbie and George Sayegh, and at the chance to reconnect with our favorite server, Allison Harris (recently profiled in a front-page story in the Tampa Bay Times). Grilled chicken you will dream about, hummus to die for and lots more goodies. Now open for dine-in and outdoor seating on its capacious patio. Beau & Mo’s. The new normal at this superb Italian steak house: Open for dine-in and outdoor dining Tues.-Sat., 5-9 p.m., reservations only. Beau & Mo TO GO (some of the best to-go deals around) will continue 5-8 p.m. Order online: www.beaunmo.com
Bella Brava. Back to normal hours: Sun.-Thurs., 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; Fri.-Sat., 11:30 am.-11 p.m. Seating outdoors and 25% indoors, servers with masks and gloves, strict sanitization. 727-895-1515. Order online.
Bright Ice. Small-batch ice creams and gelatos (gelati?) in irresistible flavors. You can order online and elect to do curbside pickup even if you walk or bike to the store. Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily except for Saturday and Sunday, when they’re open till 10 p.m.
CD Roma Restaurant and Brew Pub. Customers can dine on the patio, observing social distancing rules, or inside (25% capacity as of May 11). BOGO pasta dinner deals (Baked Ziti or Spaghetti) will continue to be offered for dine-in or carry-out till May 31. 727-344-3837.
Da Sesto Italiano. Not yet open for inside dining, but a delizioso option for Italian dinners and groceries for pick-up or delivery. Order online or call 727-209-2695. Click “menu” under each subcategory to see all items. Cocktails-to-go, too, including a “Quarantini.” (Consider ordering a pan of lasagna to freeze for later.)
Dr BBQ. Open at 25% inside capacity, with outdoor seating restricted to tables six feet apart. No reservations for the time being. Call 727-443-7227 or go to drbbqs.com to place a pickup order for curbside delivery.
Gratzzi Italian Grille. Now open for dinner seven days a week from 4-9 p.m. at 50% capacity. Reservations will be taken over the phone at 727-623-9037. Takeout and delivery still available, too.
The Hangar. Enjoy dining in or out with a view of Albert Whitted Airport from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. daily: breakfast, lunch and dinner. (Wednesday is $6 burger night!) To-go, curbside or delivery also available. No bar seating yet. 727-823-7767.
Hawkers Asian Street Fare. Dining rooms and patios open at 25% capacity as of May 18, with dine-in services halted each day from 3-4 p.m. for a midday deep clean of the restaurant (takeout and delivery will still be available during that period). They’ve also gone cashless, accepting card and/or contactless payments ONLY. 727-521-7253
Il Ritorno. From Facebook: “We have not reopened our dining room just yet. As soon as we’ve decided on a date to reopen for dine-in services, we will announce it on our social media profiles.” They’re still offering takeout and delivery including a limited dinner menu, family meals, pasta meal kits, fresh spaghetti and bottles of wine. 727-897-5900.
La V. From Facebook: “We are happy to announce that we have decided to take this time and do a full update to the inside of our restaurant. As most of you have noticed we have already updated the menu with a few new items as well as bringing back all of the classics. We will be be closed May 18th-21st as we start phase 1 of the changes. Leverock’s Seafood Restaurant. Dining room is now open at 50% capacity from 11:30-9 p.m. Sun.-Thurs., 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Fri.-Sat. Takeout and curbside pickup still available as well. Call ahead at 727-367-4588.
Lucy’s. Here’s a chance to try a restaurant that’s new to the Grand Central district, part of the newly renovated corner complex that also includes the aptly named Valhalla Bakery. Wed.-Sun., 11 a.m.-4 p.m. 727-954-4784.

Parkshore Grill. One of the nicest spots to eat outside on Beach Drive (at six feet apart, of course), Parkshore is now open for inside, too, at 25% occupancy. Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily with a new menu. Curbside service continues, too. Make a reservation or call in a pick-up order at 727-896-9463.
Pesky Pelican Brew Pub. Outdoor seating now available, and owner Dan Pemberton, besides running a small-batch nano-brewery and offering a full carryout menu, has turned his four-year-old restaurant into a mini farmer’s market. Call 727-302-9600 or order online.
Red Mesa. All of the Red Mesa restaurants — Red Mesa, Red Mesa Cantina and Red Mesa Mercado — are offering takeout via UberEats and Chow Now, which is good news for fans of Red Mesa’s multiple variations on Mexican cuisine.
Rococo Steak. Dine-in services have resumed with a limited menu at 25% capacity. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. Open Tuesday-Sunday 4-9 p.m., reservations only. Takeaway options will still be available. 727-822-0999.
