#GivingTuesdayNow: A chance to help

So many people all over the globe are suffering right now that it can be overwhelming to contemplate. But today offers a unique opportunity to reach out and to feel at the same time like you’re part of a larger effort to make the world a better place: #GivingTuesdayNow.

The “global generosity movement” known as GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. In 2019 it spun out into its own organization, continuing to encourage charitable giving on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving (Dec. 1 this year) as a counterpoint to the massive holiday shopping hype of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Today, the initiative expands to #GivingTuesdayNow, a push to meet the unprecedented needs brought about by the COVID-19 crisis.
