Everyone knows the Sea Salt Restaurant in St. Petersburg is a wine wonderland. dR asked Jackie Eash, Sommelier Beverage Director, what we should be drinking. “St. Pete weather will soon be approaching the triple digits and we will be seeking easier drinking wines that are lighter on your palate,” says the vivacious Eash.

The Sea Salt’s spectacular 22-foot tall wine tower is a centerpiece of the restaurant, for the restaurant’s design and extensive wine selection. The wine collection presents more than 4,000 bottles of wines in its regular inventory (especially Italy vintages, as an homage to the chef). The oldest vintage dates to 1975.

Sparkling Wine

“We all know and love Champagne. If you want to stay in the world of France, look for Cremant de Bourgogne from Chardonnay grapes. It displays beautiful crisp acidity & satisfying minerality. There is also Cremant de Loire, made with Primarily Chenin Blanc. And my personal favorite, Cremant de Limoux. Look for Blanquette de Limoux made predominately with the Mauzac grape. You’ll find notes of crisp citrus & a pleasant herbaceous note on the finish. The good news, you can find most of these wines from $10 to $25.”

Wine In The Pink

“Rosé has been an up & coming category for years. Ideal for the warmer months. Crisp & bone dry from the south of France, specifically Provence. Or come to the new world & experience a myriad of California Rosé crafted with everything from Sangiovese to Pinot Noir. Perfect for the “Rosé all Day” crowd. Most can be found in the $9 to $25 price range.”

Cheeky Red Wine

“If you just can’t get away from those reds, give an Oregon Pinot Noir a try. Light & dry with beautiful notes of pepper, dried herbs, & red cherry, the Pinot Noirs from Oregon gently dance across the palate with their light body & zingy acidity.
