ST PATRICKS DAY COCKTAIL
The Grasshopper is the perfect alternative to green beer or Jameson, and not just for the ladies. Served during NYC’s disco era, drunk by Raj on TV’s hit “The Big Bang Theory” and made famous at LA’s famed Tiki-Ti lounge, this creamy dreamy drink is best flash-blended and served over crushed ice and so very, very green.

Ingredients
• 1 ounce Branca Menta
• 1⁄2 ounce white crème de cacao, preferably Marie Brizard
• 1⁄2 ounce dark crème de cacao, preferably Tempus Fugit
• 1⁄2 ounce Cognac, preferably Pierre Ferrand 1840
• 1 1⁄2 ounces half and half
• 1 dash McCormick Buco Pandan Extract
• 3 to 4 dashes five-spice bitters
• Garnish: mint, grated nutmeg

Directions: Flash blend the first six ingredients in a drink mixer with 8 ounces of crushed ice. Pour into a wine glass over crushed ice. Top with 3 or 4 dashes of bitters. Garnish with mint and grated nutmeg.

3/23 Spain’s Other Varietals: There’s more to Spain than Tempranillo and Grenache; a stewy, meaty Monastrell, a tart, dry Trepat, a Syrah-based Montsant monster, a deliciously dry Viura and a couple refreshing Basque Txakoli.

3/30 Rhone Reds: Côtes du Rhône, a full-bodied Grenache blend, a beautiful Croze-Hermitage, a heady Gigondas and a Saint Joseph Syrah.
