Home and Office Lighting Can Impact Your Health.
Lighting in your home and at the office can affect the way you feel and impact your health. There is an abundance of clinical research that supports the notion that exposure to certain types of electric light before bed can increase risk of Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. Sound extreme? Google it! Or, we can reflect on how many alerts we received leading up to the August 21st Solar Eclipse. This may seem intense in comparison, but I think we can all agree that light can impact your health.
Why is Lighting so Important?
duPont REGISTRY spoke with Fabio Zaniboni, President of Zaniboni Lighting.
Light in the morning helps us wake up, feel alert and become energized. Dimmer light at night is the cue for our internal clock to prepare us for sleep. Until 10 years ago, there was only fluorescent light with LED as an electronic system. You can now, with advanced technology, fine-tune the frequency at which your LED omits or vibrates. Today, LED systems are used for growing plants, sanitizing and disinfecting. This shift in technology is not only beneficial for the aesthetics, but also stimulates the senses in our body as they react to the rhythm of lighting.
Lighting Improves with LED Technology
Improved technology in LED lighting systems is only a year old. Warm dimming or turn-able white light are new advances, and provide a unique opportunity to set the mood of your room, office space or home. Emotions are triggered because of the wavelengths you are creating. You can set the mood by the time your guests arrive for a dinner party. After guests have entered your home, set the LED and shift the light toward a warmer look. If you concentrate on the color of light and then shift the color gradually, people will transition from space to space within your home and their emotions will change accordingly.
Lighting Can Set The Tone in a Room
Imagine an audio system in a luxurious home that emits unfriendly music, it can give off negative emotions for your guests. Fluorescent lighting can express the same negativity. It is best to have subtle mood-shifting lighting to ensure happy guests. Lighting can set the mood, like fragrance can tantalize your senses. It is as important as the music, food, and guest list, because aesthetics in lighting affect our perception. We have become more visual through the years, so we encourage you to create a mood and ignite positive emotions with luxurious lighting.
The best designers always use 95 CRI (color rendering index) in exquisite homes. In general terms, CRI is a measure of a light source’s ability to show object colors “naturally.” This difference in quality and aesthetics is of extreme importance, and the best lighting solution in very high-end residences. You always want your guests to arrive in the brightest entrance, and delight in their emotions throughout the home in a circadian cycle.
